Why are we Brisbane's best? Since 1980 our workshop has been solving computer issues efficiently, cost effectively and reliably. Our service is based on ethics so we won't tell you that you need new components when we know that your issue relates purely to software.  We may however advise you if we think we can help additionally by offering simple upgrades that will make your system more reliable and efficient.  Our promise is that you will receive top quality, honest, ethical service and advice - no hidden traps, no unnecessary replacements.  Our workshop is independent of any brand or supplier and we offer the following services:

Description

Price inc. GST

Each job that comes through our workshop must first undergo a diagnostic.  This is so both we and you the customer know exactly what work is required and allows us to efficiently quote on the full repair.  The fee covers up to 45mins give or take to be spent on the diagnosis of your repair and allows our technicians enough time to make an accurate appraisal of the condition of your system.

After the diagnostic has been completed your assigned technician will be in contact with you to discuss your options and explain the extent of the repair.  No more work is carried out on your job until we have been in contact and have had an approval from you to go ahead with the quote.

Alas at times even the best software and technicians may deem some spyware or virus damage to be uneconomical to repair while keeping the operating system intact.  For these types of 'deep level' infections we recommend an operating system rebuild.  see our OS installation packages.

• Dual graphics cards in an SLI configuration
• Multiple monitor configuration
• Multiple hard drives configured in RAID arrays

This package is ideal if you are upgrading to a new PC, having a hard drive replaced or having your operating system reinstalled and you are capable of reconfiguring the backup yourself.  If you need the data reconfigured at the other end, see the advanced data backup package.

• Restoration of your favourites and 'My Documents' folders
• Reconnection of your email databases and contacts folders
• Replacement of other file folders

This package is ideal if you are upgrading to a new PC, having a hard drive replaced or having your operating system reinstalled and you also need help reconfiguring your data to its previous state.  Internet settings, mail settings and other ISP related settings may not be restored or tested without a visit to the system's home.  For this advanced reconfiguration that cannot be done inside our workshop, see our pricing for a site visit.

• Microsoft Office - installed and updated with latest updates direct from Microsoft, the mail database is attached and contacts folders setup with existing contacts.  We can attempt to reconfigure some mail settings from the old system but this will not be tested and may not work without usernames and or passwords that need to be supplied by you or your ISP.  Ideally a site visit would be required to get this setup and tested successfully
• Internet security - application installed and latest program updates sourced and installed from the manufacturer.  Anti-virus databases updated with the the latest definitions and firewall setup to specific requirements as specified by you.

• Partitioning of the hard drive
• Installation any hardware components from drivers either supplied by you or sourced from the internet
• System check and burn in.

• Motherboard and BIOS flash updates
• Perform a basic install on any software packages that you supply
• Download and install the latest service packs and security updates for your operating system and any software that we install
• Download and install software and drivers for other peripherals that you supply such as digital cameras and printers provided that you bring them into the store. (we cannot install some devices that we cannot physically touch)  If you need us to pick these items up, please see our site visit costs.

The hardware clean up is usually performed as a part of another repair job and involves us going to the extra effort of taking each of your fans and other parts from the computer and blowing them with compressed air to remove the grime.

If the job requires your system to be taken back to the workshop for further investigation then a package deal may suffice for the repair.  If the system needs delivery back to you then this will require another site visit item. A site visit is usually ideal for:

• Urgent or specialized repair on home or office networks
• Systems that cannot be moved
• Immobile clientele that cannot reach our store
• Setting up your email or internet and modem/router
• Installation of a new system.

How can you save money?

You can often save money by following a few simple procedures yourself before you bring your computer in to us.  The following is a simple list of tasks you can perform that may reduce the amount of time that we have to spend on your repair:

Backup your data.  There are a few freely available backup programs on the net.  Some folders to backup may typically include:

• My Documents folder and subfolders including My Pictures and My Music folders
• Favorites folder
• Other application data not saved within your My Documents folder
• E-Mail data and files

Update your internet security applications and attempt a system scan

• If you are capable, update your anti virus program files and definitions
• Perform a detailed system scan and note any anomalies

Be sure to bring in the equipment that we need to fix the issue:

• The computer tower, notebook or faulty item
• All software discs and license keys that you have that relate to the computer
• All usernames and passwords that we will need to troubleshoot the issue
• All documentation and manuals that may possibly relate to the job
• Other hardware and accessories if they are part of the problem such as printers, monitors or cameras.  NOTE that we don't usually need the monitor, cabling or other items unless they may relate directly to the problem or if you specifically need these items installed by us

Workshop Policy

We are a multi-brand workshop and can repair most out of warranty items. If it is in warranty (and not something Techmart Computers sold to you) we can act as your warranty agent for a fee as listed above.

For workplace health and safety and public liability insurance reasons you may not enter the workshop area or observe your repairs as they are being done. Your Technician will record all actions and, subject to their availability, will be happy talk to you about the repairs.

We accept cash, business cheque (subject to an instant clearance surcharge unless you are a registered customer), bank cheque and all major credit cards. The Techmart Workshop does not offer credit.

Where we are required to order in specialist or non-stocked replacement parts pre-payment (can be done over the phone by credit card) is required and these purchases are non-returnable.

Bookings

All jobs must be booked in to ensure that we can give you a reasonably accurate estimation on the time required for your repair.  Bookings can be made via phone, e-mail or by coming into the shop with the gear.  NOTE: All jobs are subject to the job queue.  If the job is ultra urgent or same day service is required, then we may be able to massage our queue.  For this premium service the repair will be charged at the hourly rate - we will do our best to have the job done same-day.

Delivery and Pickup

You can drop the job off at 6 Allison Street Bowen Hills during the hours of 8.30am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday or 8.30am to 3pm on Saturday.  Alternatively we can arrange for a site visit, courier or specialist computer transport service to pick up the goods - transport costs apply.
